************************************************** *******

The website address that he gives is: http://www.escrow-support.us/

This website LOOKS very legit. If you look under contacts however, there is no phone number. There is a license number though - # 9631865 which seems to come from "The European Chamber of E-Commerce East Lancashire," however, this group says on their website that they do not give out such licenses to escrow companies - http://www.chamberelancs.co.uk/index...tion=show_news

Also, if you look on the Chamber's website and look up any of the several names that are mentioned on the scammer's site, (and there are four names mind you that you will come across if you continues looking at everything - Global Security One, Better Business Support, Escrow Support, and International Escrow) - only one comes up on the Chamber's website: Global Security One. If you follow the link to that companies website, it goes somewhere totally different than to the scammer sight. I was thinking that I could be looking at another branch of the same business, but I remembered that the addresses were the same so I got confused. I decided to look closer at the addresses and sure enough - there was something wrong. The addresses were almost exactly the same, but the town was different and the zip code was off by one digit.

When I went to Whois, the site looked further bunk. An escrow company should be some type of corporation, but the website was regitstered to some guy named Phillip.

Overall, from the very beginning, nothing was adding up, but I couldn't pass up what looked like a good deal without being sure it wasn't real. The first words in the ad "this civic" made me wonder immediately - it sounded like a dealership posting the ad rather than an individual who would say "MY car." THen he goes on to talk about his car as though he doesn't really know much about it - not knowing if there are any scratches on it or not. Another thing that was catching my attention is that the person said he was from England and that this was where all his friends and family lived, but his english was horrible. One other catch was the name of the company he gave in his e-mail - he said the name was "Escrow Support." That name isn't mentioned anywhere on the website and who the hell would name their company that??? Oh yah, and there was another one - the pictures of the car! His pictures were taken here in the US - I'm almost sure. Behind the car was a parking lot full of SUV's and a long row of tall healthy Palm Trees - don't even try and tell me these things exist in England...

Just to mess with this guy I've been keeping up on the e-mails - I asked him when the pictures were taken. He hasn't replied yet. Damn, I should have tried to get a phone number after all so I could call him in "England" when I know he's here in Cali somewhere....I hope he writes me back...

Re: Escrow scam on Craigslist- Trans Export/Global Security One

Hi - thanks for this info guys. We did get scammed by this company - for £400!!

I was trying to buy a Reconditoned Rainbow cleaner and my parents subbed me the money -. it was a contact I made through Ebay although the transaction took place outside Ebay. (my fault entirely).

The seller re-directed me to a website called Trans-Export.com and told us to pay a Western Union transfer through to Spain. Needless to say we never heard another word after my parents made the payment.

I found out the discrepancies on the webiste with a day or so of the payment being made. The phony global Security one address and the info on the chamber of commerce East Lancs website!

And now the police say the have exhausted all leads and the case is closed. what should we do now - is there anything we can do - are the people using this escrow company all linked into one big scam.

Here below is one of the emails I got from this guy - Sidney Rogers:
Hello again,

No no no. The price for one Rainbow is 600 Euro. The shipping taxes are includes in the price. We will close the deal through a very safe service and very well knowed in Europe. Please visit their website : www.trans-export.com and check it out.
This service offers total security and it is used worldwide for this kind of business because it offers 100% security both for the seller and the buyer. Trans-export mission is to build trust in transactions and to create a better online trading experience. Trans-export 's services aim to help buyers identify trustworthy sellers they can buy from safely, as well as help good sellers show buyers that they can be trusted.
In a few words i will explain you how this deal will be closed:

The shipping transportation will take less time, and the package will arrive to you in max. 3 working days. After you will register at shipping company you will be contacted by their stuff explaining you the terms and conditions and the way the deal will be concluded..
After you will receive all the details about this business, you will have to present a guarantee, more precisely: you will make the payment to one of their agents and then sit back and relax and wait for the package to arrive directly to your home address.
If upon your inspection you found something that wasn't right or if the package isn't what you have desired, you will send it imediatelly to the company (transport taxes will be covered by me) and receive your money back guaranteed. I will receive the payment ONLY AFTER you will confirm the company that you like the package and keep it.

If you agree the terms and conditions to close this deal through this company, please go to : www.trans-export.com and register yourself.

Have a nice day.

And then one from Trans Export - I have removed my address!

Re: Escrow scam on Craigslist

PS I forgot - their registered address was a rip off of a genuine company called Global Security One - but they are based in manchester not London as the address on the Website gave. It was exactly the same but stated London instead of Manchester. See http://www.gsec1.com/contacts/contact.php

This guy doesn't give up...car scam on craiglist.com

This was just sent to me by a blessedjohnson1@yahoo. I've noticed this same form letter on this site with different pastor's name used. Just wanted to give a heads up.

GOOD NEWS,

I'm happy to inform you that I have concluded with my client, Pastor DANIEL JONES and he has asked me to proceed with the transaction. He has further asked me to inform you that the buying of your car is being sponsored by the church committee members of the Church Of God Mission inc. Box 144, Station D Etobicoke, on M9A 4X1 Canada on behalf of him and his wife Mrs Carolyn Jones in commemoration of their golden jubilee anniversary celebrations. He was surpose to be present inorder to view the car, but due to his tight Evangelical conference meeting he couldn't be present now.In other to experdiate this transaction and due to our time frame,we are running out of time so we dont have enough time to negotiate the price but i believe is alittle beat better than buying it locally, cause of this reason my client has accepted your price/offer.
Already, a cashier's check of $14,000USD has been mapped by the church committee members to cover the total expenses which includes the purchase of your car,the pick up of the car from its present location and the shipping charges/other necessary shipping arrangements. I have therefore been mandated by my client to forward your payment information to the church for them to make out this payment in your name so that he will be sure that you will consider your car sold to him.
My client explained to me that why you are to receive this payment in this amount is because the money being used for the payment was a donation made to the church by a christain organisation in support of his car and the cost and so the church has decided to forward your payment information directly to the sponsors so that they can see where their money is going into.

PLS NOTE; when you receive check payment, you are expected to deduct the cost of your car which is $5,000 and send down the remaining balance of $9,000 to the pick-up agent via western union money transfer to enable him offset shipping charges/arrangements.once the transaction is concluded, our shipper agent will be coming for the pick up of the car from its present location.so you don't have to bother yourself about the pick up and shipping arrangements, while title papers and other necessary documents will be sent by you via service courier to us.

Please confirm the above and provide your payment information for your payment to be delivered to you via courier service.
Please provide the following:

1-LEGAL NAME IN FULL..............
2.CONTACT ADDRESS.....................
3.PHONE NUMBER(S)...........................

I will be expecting your mail with full payment information so that we can proceed.

Also You can contact my client if you whish to....

Name...... Pastor DANIEL JONES
Adderss...Church Of God Mission inc. Box 144,
Station D Etobicoke, on M9A 4X1 Canada.
Email....dj1441dj@yahoo.ca

Thanks.

Blessed.

If that was real then that must be either a super rich church to pay that amount of money for a car, or the church members are silently unaware that money coming in to the church are spent on expensive items.

Re: This guy doesn't give up...car scam on craiglist.com

My car was on autotrader and cars.com and I received the similar scam....I almost fell for it except when he offered to send me $16K and to send the balance to the shipper! I called autotrader and was told not to give them any info as the scammers may want to steal the car, too!
here were the emails...the weird use of English shoud have been a dead give-away! 2nd giveaway: I should have read closer, I am not listed on AUto Extra.com!!!

Long story short: this is a total scam, and I am mad at myself for letting it go for as many emails as it did!

Please I have Some Questions to Ask:
1) Is the engine in perfect condition?
2) How often do you service the Vehicle?
3) send pictures for my client viewing.
4) Are you the owner?
5) If yes, for how long did you use Vehicle?
6)Finally At what price are you willing to sell this
Vehicle to Us ...Bottom price.
Below is my client's information
Maj.Schneider Daves,
454 2nd RD E ,
Stoney Creek ,
ontario L8J 2X9.
Phone Number (206)3331252

I replied like this:
see below: If your client is interested, have him contact me...I have answered your questions inside your message...I won't go lower---car is worth more than $8995 to me as it stands, I just was looking to upgrade to a newer Lexus, but I don't need to sell her, she is in immaculate condition, and an awesome car that will easily run for another 200,000 miles. I was just trying to save a few months car payments since i can't drive..what are you...a broker?

Hello,
Thanks for your mail. I am very sorry for not getting back to you as expected, i was trying to conclude issue of payment with my client. I am delighted to tell you that my client appreciates and commends your vehicle, with full interest, he is willing to carry on with this transaction. I have finalized with my client on the price of ($8,995) which is the last asking price for your vehicle and its ok by him, I have forwarded your vehicle information including your last mail to him for his proper records.
He also instructed me to inform you that payment will get to you in a US certified cashier check of ($16,000) which is a refund payment of a cancelled order earlier made by my client .Due to company policy this check has to be made out in this amount to you,Because company policy only allows a refund payment on one cashier cheque. So you are required to deduct the cost of your vehicle ($8,995) and send the balance of($7,005)to the Agent ( our shipper ) for him to be able to offset shipping & tax charges, and other cosmetic repair costs.
After payment has reached you and balance sent back to my agent,he will then proceed with his mechanics for the inspection, pick up(of vehicle & signing of title papers), make some cosmetic touches and drive to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my customer, while title papers and other necessary documets will be handed over to my agent at the time of pick up.
Please confirm this and forward the following informations;
Names:.......
Address:.......
Phone#:.......
For payment to be made and send to you as soon as possible.I decided to mail it now for urgent purposes. Thanks for your undestanding and co-operation
Best regards
John Graw.

Craigslist.com CAR SCAMS

There are a TON of car scams listed on Craigslist. I have flagged many of them for deletion, but they pop up the next day. I thought I would share my findings with you all. Let's start with the conclusions:

1) NEVER buy a craigslist vehicle that is not in your city! The only real postings are from people who are local - anyone advertising a car wanting to ship it to you is a scammer.

2) NEVER pay by money gram or wire transfer.

3) If it is claimed that "you are protected by the E-bay guarantee"... or Worldpay guarantee... or any other guarantee, it's a scam. Test this by trying to find the vehicle on e-bay or other site - it won't be there. Never send money to an "agent" directly! Guarantees only work when the transaction STARTS with a legitimate web site hosting the guarantee.

This letter has been sent to me under two names so far - Greg Lambert, and Peter Todoric.

Quote:
Hi there,
Thank you for contacting me regarding my car. First of all I want to tell you that the car is in perfect condition, and the price includes all the shipping costs and insurance so you will not have to pay any extra charges if you can't come to Utah to make the deal.

Here is the VIN Number:1j4ff48s21l568573 check the carfax report.
Miles: 78000 .

Year 2001 The car has a Clean Tittle
which will come along with it.I am at my son here in Utah , Ephraim.
The car is with me here and is in a perfect condition.
It's a great car, I am devastated that I have to sell it but i really need money for my son because he is in the hospital,so I decided to sell it. Tell me if there is anything else you would like to know about the car. If u want to see more pictures of the car please ask me that !

Thank you for the interest you have shown in purchasing the car.
Please reply,
Regards,
After following up and saying YES I want this awesome vehicle at such an attractive price (2000 jeep, 2001 Nissan Xterra all with just under 100,000 miles, etc), I receive a FAKE e-mail from E-bay or Worldpay. It looks very legitimate! Except it says to money gram or wire transfer money to the AGENT. E-bay would NEVER request this. It is 100% forgery.

So then the good part... I asked both for a phone number. I RECEIVED a number, to my surprise:

"Greg Lambert" - #801-386-9706 - selling 2001 Jeep
"Peter Torodic" - #801-783-3308 - selling 2001 Nissan Xterra

If you ignore them for a day, you will get a follow up tugging on the heart strings:

"i need to know your final decision, please understand me , i have a son in hospital ! "

So they have REAL phone numbers, but the 801 extension must be in a foreign country, running through some sort of switchboard. I suggest everyone gives them a call!

Ha for all I know - the 801 number will charge you $500 for calling it, too, so be leery. JEEZ the internet has become a dangerous place. I hope this helps a few people avoid getting bamboozled, and more importantly I hope we can catch some of these scumballers.

Stay safe, BUY LOCAL!

Craigslist/Online/Ebay Offer

For some reason, my Spidey sense is going off on this one. I found this van on craigslist:

http://denver.craigslist.org/car/569972873.html)

I sent him an email and here is what I got. One of the things that set me off was the long explanation, etc. And the fact that he's in another country. What do you guys think?

---
Hello,
My name is _______ and I'm glad to see your interest in purchasing my car.
What can I tell you in a few words is that I am an individual seller, I am not a dealer and this is my first type of auction on Craigslist. The car that I have for selling is mine, it is personal property and I am going to sell it because I was promoted to my work and in the same time they gave me a new car for work and moving for my needs. In conclusion, I don't need two good cars for the moment and I decided, after a discussion with my wife (sometimes is very difficult to be persuasive, you know what I mean) about selling my car, because it is senselessly to keep the car only to occupy the garage.
In the above I told you I was promoted at work (extraordinary thing) but I had to move with my family in another location (we must do sacrifices all the time) and now I live in Edmonton Canada.
The car is in mint condition, never been down or abused and it has 52,000 miles on it. It hasn't been involved in any accident or anything of this type. My final price on it is
US 4,500 $.
As I know that my current situation is pretty special I want the deal closed only
through eBay's Buyer Protection Program in order for you to be 100% protected. You
will make the payment to eBay and they will hold the money until you receive the
car. ONLY AFTER you receive the car and you inspect it(for 15 days) eBay will
release the payment to me; in this way we are both protected.
I know you need a bill of sale and the original title and it will be no problem, once you receive the car, you will receive them as well so you can register the car on your name.
You will have along with the papers that you need for the registration a bill on your name with the price and short description to confirm that you have already bought the car.
Please get back to me asap if you decide to buy, and include in your e-mail your full name and address where you want it shipped so I can start the deal with eBay. You will receive all the transaction payment and shipping details from them.
Best Regards,
____________

Re: Craigslist/Online/Ebay Offer

yeah, its nonsense. Ebay is not an escrow and does not hold money till you are satified. you will be told to send your money to an agent (ebay does not have agents) by western union. your money will just be gone.

Re: Craigslist/Online/Ebay Offer

Interesting,

Forget any deal that involves Western Union or any so called excrow service, they are sure tip offs of a scam.

Good luck,

Re: Craigslist/Online/Ebay Offer

I think I just heard from the Croatia scammer. Maybe the Canada guy, too?
He uses Craigslist, but wants payment through eBay. Then he sends fake emails “from eBay” for payment. This con-man is active today--but instead of Croatia he's supposedly in Scotland with the US military, working US/UK relations.

The price for selling his car is so low I thought it was a typo. He provides a real VIN from Carfax. But it certainly isn't his car. He claims that he has to sell his US spec car and ship it back to the US by Military Air Cargo, taking 3-4 days. Just remember that shipping service-member vehicles takes up to 60 days, via ship--never air, and only to limited ports. He said eBay would hold the funds until I received the car. EBay does not contact people for direct payment; they do not hold funds. For payment, they recommend escrow.com, who does not ever contact you. Advice if using escrow.com, or any other secure site: type the address in manually, then recheck the address. The address should start https:// the s means the site is secure.; if there is no s, it is a fake site, not escrow.com. There is now software that can be sent to your computer that redirects secure sites to unsecure.

Here's his absurd email if you are interested:
Hello and sorry for my delay,
The 2002 Lexus ES300 is in perfect working condition. This detailed vehicle makes the exterior look like it just came off the assembly line. The car has only 26000 original miles.VIN Number: XXXXXXXXXX--(VIN checks out with Carfax, I don't think the real owner needs that posted) It was never involved in any accident, not even minor ones. The body and paint are great. The interior is super clean, mechanically, it runs like a cat on carpet.
Here are the pics of the car :
http://s210.photobucket.com/albums/bb131/lexus300es/?start=all
So if you decide on buying the car, I want the deal closed only through eBay. You will make the payment to eBay and they will hold the money until you receive the car. ONLY AFTER you receive the car and you inspect it, eBay will release the payment to me, in this way we are both protected. I signed up for US military forces and I was sent here with my department to improve the military relations between our country and UK. I am located in Edinburgh, Scotland. One month ago, my wife moved here with me and brought the car with her, but now we have to sell it back in the United States, because we can't drive it here as we can't register it; it has US specs and everything, and registering it in Europe will take for ever. My final price on it is US 2,980 $. If you will take it for this price, I am willing to handle the shipping .It will be shipped from here by plane with US Air Military Cargo so it will not cost me anything. You will get it to the nearest airport in your area and then it will be trucked forward to your place. From the moment the payment is secured by eBay the shipping process will begin and it will arrive at your address in about 3 max. 4 working days. Please get back to me asap if you decide to buy, and include in your e-mail your full name and address where you want it shipped so I can start the deal with eBay. You will receive all the transaction payment and shipping details from them.

Thank you and have a great day,
David Gillmore

PT Cursier looked good on Craigs List

This was the first email that I received for this car that I found on Craigs List!

Sorry for the delayed response, but I'm in Glasgow (United Kingdom) right now and I have been very busy. Anyway, thank you for your interest in buying the car. The car is located in US right now and has US papers. Why is the price so low? I am here in UK with my new work and I cannot register the car here, as it is made for USA, according to USA standards. So all that I want to do now is to sell the car at this price, because I need to sell it fast(I already made a deposit here to buy me another). The title is clean and you will have absolutely no problems to register the car in the States.I will tell you a few words about the car..

My 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited-RT si with Automatic transmission it is in immaculate condition with 48,602 miles and have the VIN number: 3C8FY68B33T649180, rust free, no scratch and hasn't been involved in any accident. The motor runs very well (4 CYLINDERS). The interior looks great. This car needs nothing, the title is clear, it is not a salvage one. I want this transaction to go smoothly enough as I am caught in the middle of some very important events and have little time at my disposal. I already have tons of emails so I hope you understand that I need to sort them out.

The price is $2,900 THIS IS MY LAST PRICE.I will not negotiate the price. I will take in consideration only those buyers who are really interested in buying the car ,to be sure that I don't waste my time with endless discussions. This way, I shall be assured of the serious intentions.

You can see the pictures here: http://www.fototime.com/users/barrineau@gmx.com

So if you are interested please email me back for next step.
Regards !!

Patrick Barrineau

Second E-mail:

As I told you in my first e-mail, I am in UK with my work. Before leaving US I had prearranged the deal with WorldPay www.worldpay-vehicles.com so my presence in US isn't necessary. The car and all the papers(title,etc..) are in their possession in US ready for delivery. You have 5 days to test and inspect the car.

I will be honest with you from the start. You won't be able to see the car before you make the deposit with Worldpay.

If you want to purchase the car please go to http://www.worldpay-vehicles.com/accept-terms.php and follow the instructions. Also please make sure that you read the terms of the transaction before you purchase the car.

Regards!!

Patrick Barrineau

This was my final e-mail to Patrick!

Hi Patrick,

Thanks but no Thanks!

Regards

If is to good to be true, well then it probably is!
