I need info on Advocare please.

I am trying to find information about Advocare. They sell nutritional supplements and are based in Dallas, TX. I have been taking the products since September 04 and have had success with them. I have recently been introduced to the "business side" of Advocare and want to make sure that they are above board and not a scam. It should be noted that up until about a month ago I did not know what a MLM was so all this is very new to me. Is this really a legit way to make money?

Re: I need info on Advocare please.

Has your introduction to AdvoCare also include being shown their Policies and Procedures in addition to the Compensation Plan? Their main website does not make this information available, and I consider seeing that information first to be absolutely critical before signing on to any business opportunity. I also don't see any information on their main site about how you are actually going to make an income from their opportunity even though they state that you can.

I'm a very big fan of doing your homework first before getting involved in any opportunity, and even though the company sounds legit and is probably fine, the fact that there is so little information shown makes me wonder how good the opportunity actually is.

Re: I need info on Advocare please.

Thank you for your input Mary. What I do know about the comp plan is this. I can get 40% of the retail price when I sell the products to a retail customer. If I sign someone up for a 50.00 annual fee they get 20% off of retail and I would make 20% of retail also. Now if someone wanted to pursue Advocare as a business I would get a 7% override of their sales to start with up to 26% with a significant downline. My problem is that I don't think that I want to talk anyone into doing a business just to be succesful. Is that the way MLM's work?

In most MLM companies, there are two ways for you to make money - by getting cutomers yourself or by finding people who will get customers. You will make money from both types. Unless someone tells me flat out in the beginning that they want to be involved as a business, then I talk to them about being just a customer at first. If they enjoy the product and see the opportunity itself as being something that they could do, then perhaps they will be interested in joining you and you would then begin to benefit from the customers that they acquire.

In most MLM companies, you will certainly do better if you have both customers and business partners in your organization, since the idea of MLM is based on many people doing a little bit of work versus one person doing a whole lot of people - it's a matter of spreading out the effort of finding and acquiring customers. In order for that to happen, your prospects need to see that the business is one that they CAN do and that you will be able to show them how to do it successfully. Unfortunately, this is where a lot of people don't succeed in MLM - they don't know how to build their own business and thus cannot show another person how to it either.

The basis of being successful in a business, whether it is MLM or a more traditional business, is building relationships with the people with whom you seek to do business. People are more likely to do business with those they know, like and trust, so the key is to build those relationships carefully. There is a free ebook available by clicking on the link in my signature line that can help give you a better idea of how MLM companies work in general that goes into a lot more depth than I can here, so you may want to take a look at that - it's a generic book and has lots of really good info.

Re: I need info on Advocare please.

We have been on Advocare products for 5 1/2 years. We have been at the advisor level for 5. (deepest discount) We have also been full time Distributors for 4. We have earned $350,000 plus with the company. The checks cash and the products work. Call customer support 800-542-4800 and ask for your upline leadership team member and ask to be contacted. They are in a position to answer any question/s you have.

We were teachers and coach and love working with Advocare!

Re: I need info on Advocare please.

I was in Advocare once and they are tricky tricky tricky!!! All they want you to do is recruit recruit recruit! The part of the scheme that is not usually shared with new recruits is the quota. You have to meet a $3000.00 quota within a 3 pay period time frame each year in order to keep your downline. When you find out that Advocare is a big money loser then your upline inherits your downline and you are out of the game! I made no money in Advocare because I am not the recruiting type of person and I do not believe in using high pressured tactics to get other to join the scheme. A good website to check out is:
http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/mlmsurvivorsclub/
You can do a search into the archives and find out information on Advocare, Herbalife, Amway, Meleleuka, etc.....They are all the same--pyramid scams!
